Children's Minister
First Baptist Church of Copperas Cove

The Children’s Minister is a part-time position with benefits and is supervised by the NextGen Minister. Some office hours may be set in consultation with the Pastor and NextGen Minister, but this Minister will be mainly free to work as needed to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.
What We Are Looking For

FBC Copperas Cove is looking for a man or woman with a strong desire to reach the lost where they are at and to disciple those who are seeking after Christ. We need someone who is driven and eager to reap the harvest (Matthew 9:35-38). We are looking for someone who seeks to create genuine relationships with others and, through those relationships, can spread the Gospel message and equip those within their ministry. The 3 main focuses of this position will be to recruit, train, and schedule volunteers, build relationships with students and their parents, and ensure that Biblical teaching and modeling take place. Qualifications
-A committed follower of Jesus who is willing to become a member of FBC Cove.
-A calling to ministry and a true heart for ministering through the local church to influence the lives of all of God's children with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
-A theology that aligns with FBC Cove and a desire to continue growing in one’s faith.
-The ability to work in a flexible environment and take on additional responsibilities as needed.
-A High School diploma is required (any further education is a plus).
-Must pass a background check and complete child safety training.

Expectations & Work Commitment
-20-25 hours a week (weekly hours will vary depending on programs and events).
-Extremely flexible schedule (Required 3 hours on Sunday from 8:30am-11:30am and 2 hours on Wednesday from 6:00pm-8:00pm).
-Able to be in the office at least once a week or willing to have “office hours” with the congregation and volunteers throughout the week.

Responsibilities for the Children’s Ministry
-Will work under, and with, the NextGen Minister to create a program that edifies students and leads them into becoming the future generation of leaders within the church, while also ministering to their parents and helping them become the primary disciplers of their children.
-Oversee all programming for children in grades 1 through 6.
-Choose and prepare a curriculum for each program and each age level.
-Maintain the integrity of the children’s Bible teaching time by ensuring the instruction is consistent with the doctrinal convictions of the church.
-Create an environment of discipleship, providing activities and programming for each age group that will encourage spiritual growth and fellowship for students, parents, and volunteers.
-Plan and oversee special events related to children and families, including Vacation Bible School, camps, and retreats.
-Follow up with new children and families who visit the church or participate in events.
-Create and maintain a strategy for reaching and assimilating new children and families into the church.
-Identify and execute ministry and mission opportunities for children to participate in.
-Recruit, develop, deploy, and lead a team of volunteers.
